Ujamaa Hostel and Volunteer Experience has been running since 2008, and is based in the cultural hub, Arusha, Tanzania, a short drive away from the infamous Mt Kilimanjaro, Serengeti National Park and Ngorongoro Crater! Ujamaa in Swahili means 'extended family', and every traveller is welcomed into a fun, safe and friendly environment during their stay here. 

located in the quiet neighborhood of Njiro, you are located only minutes from Arusha city centre, where there are plenty of cafes, Restaurants, Bars, Markets, and shops! Ujamaa Hostel is for Volunteers and Travellers who are wanting to enjoy their stay by meeting other like minded people, and being immersed in Tanzanian culture through incredible volunteer placements. 

When you book a stay at Ujamaa Hostel, you can rest easy, knowing that almost everything you could want is included in the room price! Ujamaa Hostel doesn’t just provide a satisfying breakfast, but guests are also treated to nightly communal dinners, complimentary drinking water, tea and coffee and any laundry all at no extra cost. With two large living areas and an awesome garden area (complete with three lawn-mowing tortoises!), there is plenty of space for guests to chill out and relax for the afternoon before sitting down to a delicious home-cooked dinner or a drink from the open-air bar in the garden. The living areas have TV’s, a DVD library, books and some classic games for guests to enjoy in their spare time.
